Google Closes Slide

Slide Google’s $200 million+ acquision from about a year ago is being shut down by the search giant. Has hundreds of angry users of various slide games and services up in arms over the shut-down. Read more about the angry Super Poke Pets players here.
Anyways you have to wonder what prompted this move to shut down at least the modestly popular game and social developement shop after only a year. My personal theory may be that it has not added any value whatsoever to Google. In fact their latest innovation was released exclusively on the iPhone. Now forgive me but why would Google hang onto a dev shop that is adding value to the competition? I can understand releasing for iPhone after Android but before?
However the complete shut-down may be a mistake as seen by the hundreds of posts on TechCrunch protesting the shut-down of Super Poke Pets. So why not just rework their dev philosophy and use move their services to Google platforms like Google+ and Android rather Google competitors like the iPhone and FaceBook.
Well only time will tell how Google will respond the the threats of a class action lawsuit and hundreds of angry users. What do you think let us know below in the comments.
